I created a DVD project for a client and burned to TDK DVD-R media. Tried to play this media in their Pioneer V5000 DVD player and it would not work (would never load), yet in all of my DVD players (4 of them), the disc played fine. The client decided to burn my TDK DVD content to an Office Depot disc DVD-R and it worked fine. The cheap media worked great...what gives? I also thought TDK was a great brand. I tried searching online to see if there are any compatibility issues with the Pioneer model but nothing came up...

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Some TDK discs are good. Some are not. As a general rule, we here usually recommend that you buy either Taiyo Yuden (ALWAYS good) or Verbatim (almost always good, but we are getting some negative reports about stuff being made in India under their name) discs to burn. You just have fewer problems that way. TDK uses a variety of manufacturers for their discs. Some are better than others. Looks like the client DVD player didn't like the media you used.
