Hi Guys,
i'm new to this, so please be gentle !!
OS = winXP pro 32bit
using latest ConvertXtoDVD
i'm trying to convert an mkv file to DVD9, i think i have all the settings correct, no problems converting any other stuff, to watch the mkv file i have been using vlcPlayer
the problem i am getting is that during conversion i am getting multiple
"Error while decoding stream #0.0"
i think this is related to the audio, i dont want to let it go all the way through converting (6.56GB) and attempt to burn if the audio will be missing ?
can anyone help.
i will continue searching, but i'm a noobie at this, so i may miss the answer somewhere and not realise it, is it possible i dont have the required codec for the audio ?
Audio stream in ConvertXtoDVD is reporting as "[en] - liba52, 48000 Hz, 5.1"
TIA
EDIT, the completed conversion did have audio but it was terribly out of sync![]()

You could try convert with favc instead, see https://forum.videohelp.com/topic335297.html?highlight=favc%20mkv

ok, thank you i will have a peep at that, i installed the latest mega codecs pack from K-Lite this morning, and i'm still sort of getting that settled, quicktime stuff seems to run way too fast, so for now i've reset that to open in vlc, also the install said a couple of my files for sound card were damaged/missing ... no great surprise Creative have always been crap when it came to drivers etc for the Audigy range !
is FAVC as simple to use as Convertx ? -

MKV & rmvb always give me trouble, i avoid both them as much as possible

I am currently wrestling with an MKV that is giving me similar headaches. ConvertXtoDVD gives me audio issues, and FAVC won't open it and DVD Flick did encode it, but the audio is low and slow. I have ended using MKVExtract the pull out the AAC audio, converted it to a wav file using Quicktime Pro, then encoded it to AC3 using WAVtoAC3Enc. Tried using SUPER first, but it took a 2 hour AAC file and created a 6.6 hour AC3 file before I canceled it.
I would also be more concerned about the codec packs causing your issues with the sound card than Creative. Installing one codec pack is bad. Installing two is just asking for a world of hurt.Read my blog here.

wow, sounds like your having more problems than me ... i gave up on that one i was trying to do for now, mainly because i tested it with a 720 rip of prison break and convertx started through it no problems at all. (although i didnt let it complete-but no errors in the process like with the other file i was trying to do)
i have nero 8 installed to see what it's like, and i will be rebuilding my pc shortly, and will be going back to v7 ... 8 is unstable and slow
2 codec packs, not 100% sure i'm with you here, could you explain a little more plesse ? ... i have the mega codecs pack loaded from k-lite, i havent gone the mkvextract route yet -
I fixed mine by doing the following
mkvextract - extracted the AAC audio and H264 video as separate streams.
quicktime pro - converted the AAC audio to wav
wav2ac3enc - converted wav to AC3
mkvmergeGUI - created new mkv with H264 video and AC3 audio
FAVC - converted new mkv file to DVD folders, ready for burning.
I now have a fine looking DVD and learned a lot more about mkv files.Read my blog here.
