  1. How can I get subtitles _and_ chapters to a video-DVD from DVB?

My current workflow can burn DVB (Topfield TF5100PVR Masterpiece PVR/DVR) to video-DVD with subtitles from the text-TV (.srt) _or_ with chapters.

But I still can't figure out how to author the DVD with chapters _and_ subtitles. Chapters at 5-10 minute intervals would be nice but chapters at the desired spots would be even nicer.

    a) My current workflow with subtitles:

    1. Download .rec with MPEG Streamclip 1.9b3 from the Topfield.

    2. Edit and demux to .m2v, .mpa and .srt (from the text-TV subtitles) with ProjectX 0.82.1.0.

    3. Mux .m2v and .mpa to .mpg with ffmpegX 0.0.9x (for some reason muxing to .mpeg via MPEG Streamclip doesn't work for the next step's input, even if I change the suffix to .mpg which ffmpegX seems to want).

    4. Author .mpg and .srt (Text encoding: MacRoman) as VIDEO_TS with ffmpegX 0.0.9x.

    b) My current workflow with chapters:

    2. Edit .rec with MPEG Streamclip 1.9b3 and convert to MPEG.

    3. Author and add chapters with Sizzle 0.5. Or, without chapters, simply burn with Toast as a video-DVD.

...but how can I have subtitles _and_ chapters?

I still have Mac OS X 10.3.9 because I planned to jump straight to 10.5. Would 10.4-only MovieGate solve my problem? Or are there any other apps to consider?

My current workflow takes advantage of the text-TV subtitles. But what about the optional DVB subtitles that I otherwise use whan watching the DVB? What applications support DVB subtitles? So far my attempts to demux to .sub and use that in Sizzle have failed.

  2. I managed to add subtitles and chapters via CLI (mplex, spumux and dvdauthor):
