I have just recorded a fragment of a song from the Internet using OpD2D (2minutes = 23mb, wav). Is there any way to edit this file to an average mp3 size or do I need to look for another software?

Audacity will allow you to edit and save as mp3.
Check the tools section.

Thanks I am trying to figure this thing out right now. Can I do other tasks while its recording or better not? What I am concern is will this program record anything it hears like for example clicking sounds while searching Internet?

OK, it looks like it took 136 files = 136mb to create temp for one 6 minutes song and than converted to mp3 as 44100Hz 192bit 9mb. Does this sounds about right?

Not sure about your first question, as I only use Audacity to edit and not record but to answer your second question, yes, that would seem correct.
Enjoy.
