Well here is a problem for you experts.

My SVCD's have always played in my DVD player. Except the part when I ff/rw. They WILL ff/rw, but after that they lose audio video sync. No problem, just hit pause and play again. They will sync them back up. But how annoying! Any idea why i lose video/audio sync only when I ff/rw or switch tracks?

Here's the other problem. How come I don't get a nice little time thingy durring playback? I'd like to know how far along in the movie I am. With my homemade SVCD's I only get the track number.

Tackle that one for why don't ya.

1.) If it's not a sync problem of the mpeg stream it most probably is your DVD Player. Better described the chip inside can't cope with the FF/FW of the SVCD (sometimes even the VCD) stream.

2.) The time thingie - often (not always) it's a PBC thing, which is determined by the firmware of your DVD Player. Other times it's a (in)correct SCANDATA.DAT in the EXT directory of your SVCD. This can be easily demonstrated by copying a SCANDATA.DAT off one SVCD and using it in another. While authoring your mpeg stream, authoring programs go through your mpeg stream and determine length and a few other things about your clip. If your authoring program (Nero is a great example) doesn't author correctly, you will get an incorrect, or in Nero's case, no SCANDATA.DAT . Before people start saying my SVCD's from Nero work ok with time, FF and FRew - that's mainly cause your player isn't so fussy about SCANDATA.DATs.
