Nero Express stalls out

i have a ouple of avi files i'm trying to burn to dvd using an HP940e external running on nero express 6. when i try to "add video files" to the content menu the "used space" indicator shows that the space has been taken up but the the name of the file never loads in the window and then nero freezes until i control alt delete out of the program. any idea how to solve the problem?

Yes, use something else like dvd flick.
