    I have a minidv laying around im not using so can I use this for surveillance.The computer and mini dv will be about 175 to 200 feet apart.Thanks.

    Sure so long as you can power it. Most have composite or S-Video out (good for several hundred feet with quality cable) and the image quality is very good except for night*.


    * specialized security cams are designed with integrated infrared light sources.

    Many DV cameras have a timeout on them as well, so keeping it running for longer than 5 minutes or so without attention might be an issue.
