    are there dual layered dvd-r's that can be burned like normal dvd-r's? if not, does anyone know the process used to burn them? or is there a special type of burner used??

    Nope, they don't exist.

    Commercial dual-layer DVDs are pressed, not burned.

    Correct, they are pressed, not burned.
