hi, i made a dvd for a rock band. feature documentary. motion menus. extra material. etc. it had about 7.67gb of data, burned it onto a dual layer dvd. they took a break for awhile and then recently rejoined and wanted to sell the dvds. i never anticipated this happening so i had deleted the project file and data and just had my dual layer copies and and image file on my computer.

they want to add a logo to the beginning of the dvd and also change a couple things in the documentary. the problem is...i cant really reconstruct the menu, nearly impossible. ive ripped the dvd to my computer in vob and vts files. then im opening those in nero to edit them. well i can edit them and save them fine, and i replace them and everything is great. but then all of my chapter points get off and the ending of the film cuts off at the end. all i did was add a sound effect and a title...and somehow it is cutting off like 5 seconds at the end. and if i try to add the logo to the beginning, it makes the chapter points way off and again, cuts the end off greatly!

is there anyway to make the small edits that have nothing to do with time, simply just adding on top of the video and keep everything else how it was? thanks...

  2. Hi-

Adding the logo is easy. Just make a small DVD of it, open the original DVD in PGCEdit, and go Title->Import First-Play (startup) Clip, or more probably, highlight the title you want it to play before and go Title->Import Title's Intro Clip. Then follow the easy instructions from there. Because it's a new title, the original DVD, including the menus and chapters, continues to work as before.

Editing the DVD to add more stuff in the middle is very difficult, and more trouble than it's worth, in my opinion, especially since you don't seem too keen on dismantling the entire DVD to do it. Can't you add the extra stuff as a closing title maybe? That way the main body of the video remains unchanged.

But if you insist, there's some info for you in this thread, especially Bjs's posts:

I think you'll quickly change your mind about this when you see what's involved.
