I have a portable dvd player that can play divx & xvid. The problem is it can't play this certain avi file. It is a xvid format. When I play on my portable dvd player it only plays for 10 seconds and then it freezes. Why is it freezing? I can play it fine on my comp. I tried scanning for bad frames with virtualdub and there weren't any.

Here's a screenshot of the codec the file uses

load your video in mpeg4modifier and check. Should have no GMC and no NVOPs at the very least (advanced button). Your player may have problem with qpel and packed bitstreams. You can unpack bitstreams if needed without reencoding. For the rest, you will have to reencode.

Does MPEG4Modifier have a "Yes" for Packed Bitstream?

To unpack packed bitstream, place a check in the box next to Unpack (in the Packed Bitstream section), and click Save. You'll probably want to give the file you're saving a different name than the original video.
