Hi everyone
Can somebody please tell me how to convert .VOB files to .avi in a way that the subtitles will stay in the .avi file? Which program, how to use it...

I don't believe you can, at least in any format that a standalone AVI player (Divx player) would understand. AVI subtitles are normally in a separate file, in the same folder as the AVI video. You can burn them into a AVI video permanently, though: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=272736
