I've got a video tape (miniDV, which I can easily convert into an avi file) with a big black splotch that shows up in 3-4 frames. If I could use photo-editing software, to clone in the surrounding colors, I could make it disappear. What are some software programs that can do that (preferably for less than, say, $50 or so)? Once I've edited each of the bad frames, I'll need to make sure they stay linked together properly, in the avi file.

    Thanks.

  2. You can do all the video manipulation with VirtualDub. Although it's not set specifically to do this so it will take several steps. You can use any paint or image editing program to fix the images.

The process will consist of cutting the video into three pieces: the starting good part, the bad frames, and the ending good part. Then you edit the frames and join them back into a short AVI file. Finally you join all three AVI files together.
