I feel bad for you guys who live in the UK. It seems you have to really compromise on parts and supplies

I have a friend there who I will be shipping a case/PS to very soon, once I take delivery of it. He's buying it from a place that doesn't ship overseas, and having it shipped to me so I can send it off to him at a reasonable shipping cost.

Another friend has had all kinds of trouble finding Taiyo Yuden media at a good price there. He usually has to settle for Ritek substandard stuff :P

WTF? It's the UK, not Lower Slobovia :P

My experience shows that many folks are just lazy when it come to researching for where to find products, and at good prices. If it's not on the first page of Google, or in the local shop, it "does not exist".

Using the UK as an example, you can easily find Verbatim DVD-R/DVD+R in stores or online, for a good price. You don't have to use crap CMC/Ritek, and the world does not revolve around TY. The same can be said of a lot of other technology where I've often seen it stated "we don't have anything good in (insert country name here), wah wah".

And if that doesn't work, just buy from overseas and have it shipped to you. I buy stuff from Europe and Australia all the time. We live in a worldwide market in the 21st century.

I would never buy no-name junk DVD media off eBay. Find quality discs nearby. Verbatim DL media will probably run you just under £2 apiece, and that's fair.

Very true. But is it fair that they don't even have the option of buying it at a fair price?

There are various supliers in the UK stocking these for under £8 for 10
ebuyer & LPConline are two. The latter has a retail shop you can collect from if you're in the area.

These discs aren't as good as the verbs, but they are better than any other DL and half the price of the verbs. Just ensure you've a burner with the latest firmware on and use a program like IMGburn that will correctly handle creating the layer break.

I used to always get a spike at the break when using Nero - that's gone now with ImgBurn (the successor to DVDdecrypter). Here's a burn I did at 6x in my NEC 3540A.
