You didn't check this out before you spent the cash?

Explain what you want to do. If you just want to get MPeg2 video to DVD doesn't Sony offer a direct to DVD solution? It should be in your manual.

Otherwise something like ULead MovieFactory 5 or TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 should get you to DVD.

Ok maybe I wasnt clear. It isnt HD(High Definition) Its HDD(Hard Disk Drive)
Yes it did come with its own software but I was wondering if there was an easier editing software out there such as Drag and drop for Hard Disk Drive cameras.
I just donr want to do an easy burn which is what comes with the camera I want to just edit and effect and such.

That is what I understood. HDD is Mpeg2 720x480 (nominal). It should be ready for DVD without recompression so long as length and bitrate is within spec.

But the software is a little complicated and doesnt have much in the way of editing and I tried pinnacle Studio plus and it wont recognise the camera(USB) to capture video.

USB transfer is proprietary. Pinnacle would need to write a special USB driver and probably has in the latest version. Maybe not. That is up to Pinnacle. It's like the old days of nonstandard driver support.

Otherwise you are stuck with your Sony software to get the MPeg2 to the hard drive. Then import to your editing program as MPeg2. The program will decompress the Mpeg2 for editing (typical). When done it will recode.

Keep in mind that Sony marketing regards DVD and HDD MPeg2 camcorders as solutions for those who don't want to edit and recompress again. They were answering the consumer demand to go camcorder direct to DVD.

What kind of editing do you want to do?

For simple, get the video to your hard drive with the Sony software then use Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD to edit to a finished MPeg2. Then Author the DVD.

If this doesn't do what you want, there are other products with more capability.

You can also do some simple editing in uLead DVDMF and if the video is DVD compliant it will undergo a minimal amount of re-encoding.
