    how do i convert mpeg2 to realmedia 10? ive tried RealProducer Basic 11 but it hangs up when it starts to encode and i couldnt find realmedia codec in vdub. i also tried xilsoft but i cant play the converted file?

    the specs of the video im trying to convert are:
    Bit rate: 6440kbps
    Video:
    Format: mpeg2video
    Size: 720x576
    Frame rate: 25.00fps
    Audio:
    Format: mp2
    Bit rate: 224kbps
    Sample rate: 48000Hz
    Channels: Stereo

    To clarify you mean RV10 as in RV10 or RV40? RV10 was the fourCC for Real Video 1 or whatever. Real Video 10 aka RV9 EHQ is RV40. Guess they thought they wouldn't get to 10 (not that they really have).

    Anyway to encode RV40 you have to use Real's encoder. For RV10 you can use libavcodec for encoding.

    ok to clarify im trying to encode a footy game i recorded in the same compression settings as a movie i downloaded because the movie is good quality and small size which is what im after, i realize that the quality wont be as good because the sources are different and its recorded. anyway these are the specs of the movie:
    Video .................. : 471Kbps, RV40 = RealVideo 9
    Audio .................. : 64 Kbps, 2 chann., RealAudio 8,cook-24
    Resolution ............. : 640 x 352
    Size ................... : 558 MB

    You'd be better off with AVC video and he aac audio.

    i tried using H.261, H.263 codec in vdub but it says its not a compatable format? what H.264/AVC codec should i install? and should i use vdub?

    I'd recommend x264, but it isn't a codec and I wouldn't recommend using it via VDub.

    so how do i convert the mpeg2 video to x264 MP4? what program should i use?
