I'm sure my question makes no sense, but I don't really know how to ask it! Here's my situation. I have no available cable service in my home, only satellite. I'm not getting satellite, so that leaves me with broadcast TV. Is there a way for me to use a PC to somehow get TV broadcasts over the internet, and then output that signal to my TV? I hope someone here understands what I'm talking about![]()

Download your TV shows from usenet.
Does your computer have S-Video out? If so:

I have one for playing things off of the laptop and it works great! A lot of laptops have S-video out. Some video cards have it also.XP

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure this will help me though.. I have the cables I need, but I'm not sure how to get TV over the internet. Like, is there a "cable over internet" service? Or can I pull broadcast TV over my internet connection so the signal is not so horrible ( i have antennas on my TV and it's a bad signal).Originally Posted by jmkeuning

You can't, yet. At least not from any legal source in the USA. You can download some stuff legally via iTunes and the like (pay per view or pay per show). None of it is broadcast quality. You can download illegally distributed stuff via P2P or Usenet. Some of that is near broadcast or HD quality. But it's not real-time.Originally Posted by AsheNewbie
By the way, what you're looking for is called IPTV.

We have this in Hong Kong.

except that I live out of the city, so while I get broadband, it's not fast enough to for TV.
That needs a 6M/sec service. -
I have never looked into any of it, but there are definitley some pirated streams available out there.

IPTV is unlikely to make it to rural areas not already covered by cable.Originally Posted by AsheNewbie
ABC has been good about offering streaming versions of it's hit shows from their internet home site.
Consider Netflix as an alternative. I've been happy.
