Could anyone point me to an avi resizer? I have some avi files that I would like to be able to get under 700MB while still keeping everything else the same, by the same I mean xvid and wav audio.
Thanks

You would have to re-encode and this will mean a decrease in the quality. In other words ... not advisable.

Certainly for the video part of the VAI, but re-encoding the audio to AC3, MP3 etc. would be a minimal (maybe even negligible and unnoticeable) loss in audio quality while reducing the filesize - especially as the audio is currently WAV and so uncomressed.Originally Posted by FulciLives

Good point about the audio ... I did wonder why I was reading WAV audio but these days people seem to do whatever they what with no real regard as to why.Originally Posted by daamon
I guess I just didn't feel like getting into a "should convert WAV to AC-3" argument LOL

Because I am making data cd's and I need the audio in wav because my player has massive sync issues with VBROriginally Posted by FulciLives

WAVE audio is about 10 MB/min, MP3 1-2 MB/min, depending on compression. So you can save a lot there before worrying about the video.
-- Try CBR MP3 for fewer sync problems.
If you want to recompress the video, look at AVI ReComp. -
CBR MP3 should not have sync issues. Also AC-3 should not have sync issues. However it is true that VBR MP3 is a big killer on proper sync ... sometimes.

Check out the second post down in this thread - Just a small script to normalize and encode your AVI audio to 224kbs MP3, plus mux the audio and video into a new "Fixed-*.AVI" file.
