I burned the DVD which included some video scenes to DVD-R. I have the DVD and the DVD-R that I burned. They work great and now I'd like to extract one of the slideshows and put on youtube. I have Mactheripper and isquint.

Did you create the slideshow originally in iPhoto then send it over
    to iDVD?
if so, instead, send the slideshow to iMovie HD, and then save it
out as a Quicktime Movie file, at 320 x 240, 30fps, and then
upload that movie to youtube. Youtube will convert it for you.

If this is a "DVD slide show" where you drag the photos directly to iDVD and they show as full frame images that can be manually advanced with the chapter skip key, then I'm pretty sure this cannot be extracted for conversion to any other format. You will need to recreate the slide show from the original photos in a different application and export as a movie. I don't use youtube but they also may suggest applications or formats for slide shows.
