I seem to be having more and more problems with blank DVD media these days. Does anyone know what type of disks work best in this drive?
I got some Fuji DVD's and they wont make it past the first min. of burning. I also have a bunch of no name disks that burn almost %100 but at the end they "don't complete successfully"
This is really frustrating, seeing as I'm wasting disks.
Thanks for your help, and happy new year.

  2. Your drive is probably an NEC 1100A and it is well past its useful life. Given that newer drives are around $30, you might want to consider a new model, especially as they are much better writers. I would avoid new NEC drives at all cost, consider the Pioneer 111.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  4. You don't understand. HP does not actually make any DVD drives. They just buy from a real manufacturer, add their mark up and name, and sell it.

Got it, now I see that it is a Philips DVD8401. The real question now is, where do I find the original driver? I want to do a firmware update, but cant do anything without the original drivers.
