Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum but not to the website. I have been coming to this site for years looking for tutorials and tips and I finally decided to register.

Anyway, I have a quick basic question. Does anyone know of any software for OS X that will simply blank out the VOB files on a DVD after it's been copied. Such examples on the Windows platform include TitleSetBlanker. I am trying to backup several (personally owned) DVDs on my new Mac (as I trashed my PC.) I want to remove the annoying "coming soon" and the warning labels that take hours to go through. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  2. use mydvdedit to edit the IFO file so you can fast foward through the annoying sections or you can use Toast 7 and only burn the main feature which won't have any previews...

If your new Mac can dual-boot into both OS X and WinXP, you may wish to install XP and use some of your old PC tools in addition to the Mac ones. That'll give you the best of both worlds. In this particular case, there does not seem to be a Mac equivalent of VOB Blanker, which is what you want. Editing IFOs can reduce the unwanted segments to a single still pic, but if you want to make them go bye-bye altogether, there's no free Mac tool I'm aware of that will do the job.

That's what I thought of doing, using myDVDEdit. The idea is that I blank them from the DVD setup to save some space on the DVD giving me additional space for the compressed DVD. Hopefully, after blanking them the compressed video may not be as grainy.

That's what I am using now. However I would prefer to keep everything on one disk.

What I decided to do was copy the ripped DVD to a FAT 32 partition on my external drive and use TitleSetBlanker on my brother's computer. Everything worked well.

    Any other suggestions?

I have another DVD that I have to reauthor within the next few days. I am going to try and use the backed up copies of the VOB from the previous DVD that were made in TitleSetBlanker and place them within the correct file names. Maybe it will properly copy over?

    I'll keep everyone updated.
