Hi folks,
I'm using a Sony DRU-710A and attempting to burn a DVD+R DL but the drive only shows the disc as being a CD-R w/ 589MB of space on it. This happens regardless of the program I try to use to burn it. It is a Matrix brand DVD+R DL 2.4x. My burner is SUPPOSED to support this type of disc but I'm having issues. I have already updated my firmware to the latest available from Sony (I know there are some Lite-On versions as well... will they help?) but still isn't working. I'm open to suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Try updating your drive's firmware. Matrix AFAIK is new on the market (and I don't know if it's any good - so far, only Verbatim and maybe Ritek is ok). That means most drives will not recognize it without an update.

As I said, I already have the latest firmware update from Sony's website for this drive. If you have another idea I'd appreciate it but the firmware doesn't seem to have helped. Thanks anyway though.

Have you tried another brand of DL disc? I expect Sony doesn't have support in their firmware yet for the brand you are trying to use or you have an actual hardware issue. Either way, trying another disc would helpful.
