  1. I am trying to convert AVI's I have captured (using PICVideo's Codex) to sVCDs and am having a problem.. I have TMPGe working very well.. takes forever, but Frameserving it to TMPGe and doing a 2-pass vbr gives pretty good quality. But at certain points, its not very good, like fast motion scenes (and I have motion est. on high).
So.. I am looking into CCE which I understand from reading posts is much faster. 2 problems tho..

    1) Gotta create that Info file before you can do a 2+ pass encoding.

    2) When I try frameserving from Virtualdub, every time it trys to end i get an error. I mean that when I do manually create the info file (cbr ) and then do a vbr multi-pass, if i set it to 3 passes, when its 33% done, I get an error.. hit OK and then it goes ok till 66%, then the same till 100% and then its ok.. File looks good too..

    SO here are my questions..
Is there a way to script it so it will do the CBR and create the info file and then do the multi-pass with me just hitting start 1x?

2nd.. Has anyone had this problem with the 33%, blah blah.. etc.. is it because CCE doesnt handle frame serving well from VirtualDub?

I would use DVD2SVCD and have it do the work there (I"m guessing it would do it well) but DVD2SVCD cant seem to load a frameserve file from Virtual dub (when I try, it wont let me hit the button to start encoding),

    Any ideas guys and gals?

  3. Can I do that and still be frameserving it? if so.. how (to answer your question, no I didnt).

Whenever I use VirtualDub to make a new AVI out of the one I captured, somethign goes wrong usually after the first edit there is an error and it cant be played, i am not sure why.. should I be editing on the I frames? But thats a different topic.

How would I convert it to type 2?

  4. read the AVI hints tab and check it to have it auto convert for you in the misc. tab.

read the crappy avi2svcd reference here for more info

  5. Hi,

there's a patch for CCE2.5 which solves this checksum error problem. Works well for me. Search for cce and patch and you will find a link in the forum.
