I have many jpg pictures and motion jpeg avi video clips from my digital camera that I want to put together to make a movie/video presentation of sorts.
So the things I need to do are:
1. Edit (cut out some parts) and join together the videos
2. Between videos I would like to transition in the still jpg photos
3. Have some videos and pictures use an mp3 for sound (if I have to convert the MP3 to wave or something, that is fine). For example the video may start with an MP3, but then when someone talks in the video, it goes to the video's audio, then back to the MP3, and over and over again.
I am not too concerned about file size or format, I just need to get this done quickly and easily if possible. I am looking for suggestions for what programs to use to do these things. If there is one program that does it all that would be great. If it is freeware, so much the better. So if you know multiple programs that can do the things that I am asking, please let me know, free or not. I am not to familiar with the Windows movie maker programs, but can it do most if not all what I am asking? I am using XP Media Center Edition. I need to get this done before Monday if possible. Any suggestions you guys have would be great.
Thanks.

Try Windows Movie Maker 2. Free for XP users.

Thanks! I forgot one question last time; I need to rotate some videos 90 degrees, what program can I use to do this?

That would depend on the format. VirtualDub can rotate videos in AVI type formats. For JPEGs or other format pictures, do it with a graphics program before adding to a video. Most of them can do that, even Windows 'Paint'.
For videos, this 'sticky' discusses videos that are upside down and may give you some ideas: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=150504
