Freeware/Trialware ISO Creator??

Help! I'm trying to do something with a DVD disc, but i don't even know if the end result will work. Yet most decent looking ISO creators cost $$ and only allow limited use otherwise.

I don't want to fork over $25-$30 for a program, when i don't even know if what i'm trying to do is going to work or not, and then be out $25.

So...any freeware or trialware ISO creators out there, that allow full ISO image creation/output?

To turn any folder to iso, Folder2iso is good (or mkisofs, which most ISO creation apps are just a GUI for)

I'm still using IMGTools "Classic" to make the ISO before burning to DVD media.

But as stated by mats.hogberg, Folder2Iso for all other ISO creation and its free.

Sorry, but this is incorrect. It can output an image file as well.
You can choose if you want to burn directly or write to a file. Try it... it's free.

I believe that the later versions of IMGBurn can create ISOs from folders as well.

Ok guys, but what about editing? Like being able to view the contents of an ISO, remove a file or two, then convert back to iso form and burn?

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, that only lets me view the files within the ISO. It does not let me delete/modify anything, and then be able to save the changes after.

Since it "mounts" the image to be like a virtual CD-Rom, thus i can't delete/modify anything.

Daemon Tools makes its virtual disc read only, sadly.
But you can copy the files to a real folder, edit them, and then make a new ISO using several free tools. Problem is if it needs to be bootable.

WinISO lets you edit files in an ISO, but it's not free.

Generally, an ISO behaves just lika a real CD (or DVD). You can't change what's in it. You can take it apart, edit and reassemble a new version, but that's it.

Actually, there are quite a few ISO editors. WinISO, ISOMagic, UltraISO, ISO Commander. No free ones that I've found though. Basically, the same idea as tools that let you treat a ZIP or RAR archive like a virtual directory. So behind the scenes they're unpacking and rebuilding the archive, but to the user it seems like directly accessing files inside the archive.

As for the OP, ISO Commander has a 1 month demo download. Most of the others seem to have demos limited by the size of files they can handle. But the only one I've personally used is WinISO.

But for the purpose of what the OP want's to do, you can't do it
You have to extract the content's, then edit, then reauthor the dvd and then make a new ISO image of that dvd video.

He didn't say "DVD video". He was just talking about files, so I assume data disc, and WinISO can certainly edit that kind of ISO.
