I've got a Sony LCD HDTV with ATSC/NTSC tuner, can I use this to receive European Satelitte TV? Does Satellite TV go by format (ATSC/NTSC/PAL etc), or does the format even matter once it's ran through the converter box? The new Sky Italia HD converter boxes use HDMI outputs...
Previously I've been able to get Italian TV by using it as a computer monitor (VGA input) and using a USB TV tuner, but the signal is kind of iffy at best.
Thanks!
John...

If your TV set can display 720p/1080i@50Hz than no problems via HDMI interface.
Also the satellite receivers that I saw had a convesion option in the setup menu allowing to output PAL shows in NTSC format (or the other way around). I guess the newest boxes sould have the same option.
