is there a dvd player that will play avi on your tv or is there software that u can get to do this all i want to do is download the movie then record it as avi and play it in the dvd player to watch on tv been told there is a dvd player that will do that thanks for help beth

There are plenty of DVD players which will play DivX/XviD encoded AVIs. Here's a link to over 1000 such players:

I have a Philips DVP5960 player. It supports AVI files on CD, DVD and USB memory sticks (there is a USB port at the front of the player). It's quite a nice player.

Helo ford, The Philips model 5960 will play your avi files, plus many, many other formats. If you are short on cash, try the Philips model 642 (sold at Walmart for under $50.00) will also play numerous formats. They both can be set to play multi region dvds as well...!
