    hi i just finished editing a video i edited and i want to be able to upload it on the internet. i rendered it using "video for windows" but it seems that it is uncompressed. of course i need the file to be smaller...how do use my divx codec to compress the video in sony vegas? i cant seem to find a codec option. thank you.

    "Render as" then divx or wmv.

    Or are you using an older version? In that case render as your project format (e.g. DV or uncompressed) and use an external divx encoder.

    any version back to 2 can render in divx or wmv (or other formats)

    wmv is part of the templates ... divx and other avi container formats are rendered via the "video for windows", but you have to select what codec to use in the custom settings ....
