  1. Hi! I have some tv series mpeg captured that ide like
to convert to XviD so i hope some one could help me
with the best settings to maintain quality, ive been testing
AutoGuardian Knot but im not really yet pleased with the
    outcome of it.

The MPEG captures are captured at:
    Size: 720x576
    Frame Rate: 25.00 frames/sec
    Bit Rate: 7200 KBits/sec

with the possibility to change the bitrate to max
    9000 KBits/sec.

You could try a program like VirtualDub Mod, though AutoGK is probably easier to use. For the Xvid codec, click on the 'Configure' button and change the 'Target bitrate' selector to 'Target Quantizer' by clicking on it. Set it to about '2' and you should have very close to the same quality as the original MPEG.

You can try a short encode of maybe a five minute representative clip and see how it looks before encoding the whole file. You can also try some higher settings, up to '1', but your filesize will increase considerably. Xvid has a calculator there to see what the resulting filesize will be.

Xvid has some other advanced settings available, but I'll let someone else describe them, as I usually stick with the default settings and just adjust the Quantizer.
