In Vegas, Is it possible to have negative effects during playback by checking the "reduce interlace flicker" button when you don't need to check it?

    IMHO, I don't think so.
Anyway, I guess checking Reduce Interlace Flicker in Vegas won't help as much either (as Video Supersampling).
If you have some trouble with very sharp video (or specially pics), you can use one of these 2 plug-ins: Gaussian Blur (I don't like this one in Vegas) or Light Blur (levels art 0,0400 up to 0,0700). If you are planning to render a slide show (showing pics + animating a virtual camera with keyframes), you can use Photoshop to add some blur (Gaussian Blur Filter at 0,4 to 0,eight) depending on the sharpness of your pictures. It's a good idea to render and preview the resut on a TV monitor. If you still have some "noise" on the video, take note where they appear and insert some more blur (you have to blur more than those figures shown above). Water (surface of the sea, of a lake) would be a classic exemple.

You can also set the render settings to Best, especially if you are doing titles or graphics. This is supposedly a smart feature, so it will apply itself only where required.
