Hi there, am new to this forum. I have had audio sync problems before but none like this. Here's the go so far:

    1) Have an AVI file (Xvid codec) with MP3 adio (LAME encoder, 80bitrate and 48000Hz)

    2) I used winAVI to convert the file to MPEG2

    3) I then used TMPEnc DVD to convert the file into DVD

    4) Burnt the DVD and the audio was out of sync and also got worse further into the movie

    5) There were no sync issues in the MPEG2 file...problem only occurred once i converted into VOB files

    6) I tried de-muxing the MPEG2 file with TMPEnc plus. Both the output video and audio file had the same time length. NOTE: Previously, if the time length of the files were different, i used Goldwave to fix the audio

    7) I also tried DVDLab. After de-muxing the MPEG2 file, it said the audio frequency was 44kHz and should be 48kHz. I allowed it to transcode it to that frequency. I then made a DVD using the demuxed video and audio files. Once again, the resultant VOB files have out of sync audio

    Any hep would be appreciated

    Hi swannies1983,

I had the same problems using winavi, winavi is crap.
I would recommend buying the latest version of ConvertX to DVD which is far better than winavi.
ConvertX to DVD will handle any file you throw at it.

    Hello,
I am not sure this will help but on my system I have to
go to my audio control panel and shut off (mute)everything that is not used..
    Worth a try..
    Goodluck,

Once WinAVI got a hold of it, it was screwed. As has been dealt with a thousand times, use vitrualdubmod to save the audio as an uncompressed wav file. Then either encode the audio and video seperately, or mux the wav back into the avi, kill the VBR MP3, and encode from there.

ConvertXtoDVD is certainly a lot more reliable that WinAVI, but it isn't perfect either.

Thanks for the input. guns1inger --> i tried doing this part
"vitrualdubmod to save the audio as an uncompressed wav file"....."mux the wav back into the avi, kill the VBR MP3, and encode from there"

I then used TMPEnc to convert this "new" avi file to MPEG (whilst killing VBR MP3." The audio of resultant MPEG2 file now became out of sync (something which didn't happen with WinAVI).

GhostRider_71 --> does convertxtoDVD enable you to create menu screens?

I've used a similar procedure that seems to work most of the time with these VBR files.
VDubMod to save audio as WAV -> TMPGEnc with AVI as video source and extracted WAV as audio source -> encode

In other words, I don't mux the WAV back in before encoding. This as worked for the majority of VBR files I run into, but not all.

    YMMV, of course

Looks like this way will fix the problem. I just did a very short conversion in TMPEnc and then made DVD files out of the output and it seems to have fixed up the sync issues. I will do the whole avi file at night as TMPEnc said it was going to take hours to do!

    Thanks
