Does anyone use any other DVD burning programs?
I have so many coasters with Nero. I need a program that will convert and burn DivX, Xvid files like Nero does., (but properly)

Probably the best to consider would be ConvertXtoDVD, which converts better than Nero, oes subtitles and second audio tracks, and uses a version of the CopytoDVD burning engine.

Personally, I am not a fan of using a single program that tries to do everything, as they tend to be mediocre at everything. Chosing single programs for each stage means you get software that does only one thing, but does it damn well. You will never find one program that will do everything you want and get it right every time. There are too many variations to cater for.

And you have the advantage that if SOMETHING comes out later that does one of the jobs BETTER than what you're currently using, it SHOULD just drop into the process you already follow ... all the other tools still work the same as what you're used to.

I've really never had a problem BURNING something with Nero. Even ImgTools, which I use, is based on Nero's burning engine, and I believe ImgBurn is also based on Nero's SDK.

    All free tools...

DivXtoDVD to convert to DVD (you have to search for the free version)
DVD shrink to make the ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter

My first DVD burn with Nero was a coaster so I only use it to copy music discs and to burn data discs. It has alot of usefull utilites that I like to use but for burning DVD, DVD Decrypter is my tool of choice.

You could use imgtools classic and imgburn to create and burn the image, instead of Shrink, which is cumbersome for just ISO creation.

ImgTools does use the Nero API, but ImgBurn uses no part of Nero. They're completely separate.

guns1inger's recommendation (ImgTools Classic to create the ISO- ImgBurn to burn ISO) is definitely the easiest/most reliable way to go. I use that method all the time with no problems.

Can you shrink the movie if needed or cut the beginning and end with those programs?
I was taught to use Shrink in a DivXtoDVD guide and since that program is already on my computer, it's the program I use.
We could always bypass the ISO step and just burn with Copy To DVD with DivXtoDVD but I like burning with DVD Decrypter and the simplest way for me to do that is to use Shrink and have it automatically burn with Decrypter and I like to keep the ISO around for a while, just incase I need to make another copy.
