    Does MMC 7.6 install straight out or does it need tweks to get it to work with an ATW VE ?

    ATI has MMC 7.1 only for the ATW VE.

    You install the WDM drivers supplied with 7.1, but then don't install MMC (7.1) Download 7.5 and 7.6 from filemirrors.com, take the setup.inx file from 7.5 and overwrite it in 7.6 (installer directory, PRE-install) and then install 7.6 - not supported though (officially) so no guarantees it will work. Judging by the fact that you bought the VE, if you only need a TV tuner, 7.1 will do just fine!
