I am using Ulead DVD Workshop and created a DVD format from an MPEG2. I was able to burn the image to a regular CD/R burner. The problem is my Sony DVD Home Theatre system cant read the cd. If I use my computer DVD player it can play it. My DVD player says it can play CD/dvd/vcd. I am wonering if there is a way to make this work?

Do I really need a DVD/R to make it work??

    Please help with suggestions

I am afraid you do.I made a DVD compliant file via Spruce of some 600 mb and tried to burn it on a cd-r disk using DVD-r burner. My Pioneer 525 will not read it.

  3. Sony's are known for that. Mine does'nt play them nor does my buddies who just bought a new Sony Home Theatre sytem. Sony needs to catch up the other companies like JVC, Phillips etc... in this mpeg 1&2 format players. I recently got into burning my own VCD's, SVCD's and DVD's of video that I edit on my computer. What I did was burned a test MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc and brought the disc to Best Buy and checked which player would play it. The first one I checked was a JVC DVD/VCD/SVCD player. It played it great and since I got it home it plays all of home burned DVD format on CD-r movies. I can fit about 35 min. of clear footage on one CD-R (in DVD format) and the quality is almost as good as the DV tape itself.
