Speech to text software?

Hi,

A friend of mine asked me if I knew of any software to make his life eaier when having to transcribe the minutes of various meetings from an audio tape(dictaphone). I personally have never really heard of such a thing available on a consumer level and one would presume, it would be extremely difficult to produce such software.I just wondered if such a piece of software existed and were I mght find it if it did?

Dragon Dictate or Naturally Speaking are two that come to mind.

To get any kind of accuracy with voice recognition software the program has to be trained to a specific speaker's voice. The recording has to be very clear with no background noise and little hiss. This pretty much means it must be recorded with a microphone right in front of the speaker's mouth.
