Generaly look for the audio delay in GSpot. You should account for such a delay when authoring to DVD. I don't know if such setting is available in AVI2DVD.
Second look for VBR mp3 in the avi (again GSpot) if it is the case, using VDubMod to decompress the audio as wav file and use this wav for audio source in AVI2DVD. Not sure if AVI2DVD is able to take external audio source. -
Use virtualdubmod to save the audio as uncompressed wav, then import it again to replace the VBR MP3 audio which is causing you the problem. Then process through AVI2DVD

...and face it - some AVIs simply don't lend themselves to conversion to other formats.
Get an AVI capable DVD player.

Thank you all, for yr kind assistance.
I will try with VirtualDubMod, as it didnt work with AVI-MUX_GUI..
And yes, I think mats.hogberg is right , some AVI's are not convertible.
