Help playing VCD's please

I own an RCA RC5220P DVD player. The information on this site says that CD-RW's work on this player and play VCD's. I just burned half of a movie on to a Memorex CD-RW disc using Nero. Nero burned successfully and everything went well. I put the CD into my DVD player and the player reads it, saying VCD, press play or ok to begin and has the exact time of the movie there too. The problem is that when I push play, the screen goes black for a second and then goes back to the screen I was just on. It does this everytime. Help is appreciated.

does the mpg play ok on your pc?

Yes it plays fine. I gave one to my friend and it works fine on his DVD player. I then read that the Digital Media brand discs work on the DVD player but they don't for me as people have said before on here. I can't figure out the problem.

just try another type of disc, i use staples brand and they work great. May be a possibility that your dvd player doesn't play vcd's. There are some players that don't play them.
