I have managed to capture an avi file of a streak of lightening hitting the ground, and I am wondering if I can extract this frame to a jpeg or other image file.
Does anyone know of a method of doing this.
Thanks in advance

Just about every video editing package can save frames as image files. Try VirtualDUbMod.
Many media players have the ability too although it may be harder to get exactly the frame you want. Try Media Player Classic. -
You didn't mention the source but I'll assume it is a camcorder and the AVI is interlaced video. For a lightening strike there will be considerable motion between field one and field two for the frame.
This is a case where field capture may be more appropriate than frame capture.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
