well i downloaded a video and i go to play it back but all i get is sound i dont have any video...ive downloaded codec, different players, nothing seems to work....i tried one thing though i renamed the video files to .mpg and played them in windows media player, the problem there is that i cant turn off directors commentary because wmp is not recognizing it as a dvd....i am a complete newb when it comes to this i just need some help soo please someone help me lol....ive used the Gspot program and it says ive got all the right codecs installed but it still wont play video on VLC player, or PowerDVD

Koolplaya is a free player to try as well .
See if vdub can open it without error .
There are tool's in tool's section that can help disable codec's enabling you to trouble shoot the playback issue ... your pc might be trying to use incorrect one's ... something that can happen from those so called all-in-one codec pack's ... avoid these .
Another possibilty which get's overlooked is it could have been packed by ratdvd ... you will need ratdvd to unpack it .
Super might beable to re-encode the file , if file has broken frame's ...
I had a friend who gave me a clip , played fine , but encoding it to another format was not possible ... in ulead video studio , as I dragged it along the time line , it showed two video clip's ... just passed it through super fixed the problem .
