    Rip with DVDFabDecrypter.

Shrink, if required, with DVDShrink. Before hitting OK, make sure you've set it to be region free. This will then go on to burn the DVD.

If it doesn't need shrinking, burn as a DVD disc with your chosen burning software.

If you get stuck, or have more questions, there are plenty of guides for both of the tools mentioned above. Have a good read.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

  3. And if it's a PAL DVD, there's still a pretty good chance she won't be able to play it.

Or DVD Decrypter, if you can find a copy. Rip, remove all protection and region coding, voila. Then burn another copy using this modified folder.

When you hit the backup button you can set the region code. By default, all regions are selected, making it playable anywhere.

Again, this only changes the region code, not the format.

    You mean like this ??

Look at all those pretty tabs along the top......
Hey!! what's that second one say ??

If it was a snake it woulda bit ya

And as stated, it is set to be region free by default, the real problem might be if the original is region 2 it is prob. also PAL, you live in NTSC land, will her player play PAL ?
Just changing the region code does not change it from PAL to NTSC.

I have an Intel iMac with a Matshita UJ-846 drive. I own Region-2 DVDs that I would like to watch on my Region-1 TV-set player. I can convert the DVDs to Region-free with MacTheRipper, and then burn them with Popcorn, but will the presence of the newly burned Region-free disc in the drive use up one of the drive's five Region changes?

It may. However you might be able to get around this by installing a firmware update that removes all region restrictions.

Sounds good. Any idea where I might look for such a firmware update?
