Setting up my just purchased Compaq 1.8ghz / 512k Ram / Win Xp box with WinTV2000 and GB-PVR. However, for the non mpg format files and Internet streaming vids, etc.., do also want TV-Out output on a video card for the 27" Analog TV. Comp USA now has G-Force 55000 and 6200 vid cards very fairly priced (tho w/ rebates - ughhh). Just hope the TV-out doesnt "overfill" the monitor and the TV screen making scrolling necessary (like the old PC's ATI Rage card did). If it does, want the TV-out easy to turn the tv-out feature off&on for the wife/kids. Looking for opinions of the Nvidia based lower end cards TV-out feature. Also hoping they dont run very hot in this always on PC, dont need a high perf. gaming graphics card, just a user friendly TV-out feature for maybe $50 (the 5500 cards price), or choice #2 the 6200 256mb card for $100.

    Thanks for any feedback!

The nvidia 5500 unit's are fine (my current card , after 5200 bellied up after 6 month's)... many user adjustable setting's .

But from my test's I found the ati unit's provide a much more crisp picture , than nvidia unit's .

Price is only one factor ... as for heat , the 5500 run's quite cool .
Just remember that the tv must be connected before the pc is switched on or you wont beable to engage twin view or tv out .

Thanks Bjs. So the ATI cards do run hotter it sounds so maybe I stay with a lower end less powerful ATI card. My 6 yr old ATI Rage Pro card's TV-Out did allow switching the TV feature on & off in Display, Settings, Advanced. Worse feature though was it overfilled the TV and Monitor making scrolling necessary with mouse to view entire screen. Do you experience that?

    Cheers
