hey,
i made a svcd and as you all know tmpgenc
wont cut it afterwards, i just get a grey box.
i need to cut this movie in half.
i got bbmpeg(avi2mpg2)
my question is, after demuxing in tmpgenc, how do i know where the half of the movie is? in bbmpeg you have to enter it in by seconds.
all i want to do is re-mulitplex back to svcd, and i need 2 smaller files so i can burn 2 cds. the original svcd is about 1 gig big,
any ideas? please help!!

In bbMpeg you can enter the max file size. Enter half of the file size to have it cut in half.

really?
wow thats pretty easy.
i wonder if the movie will lose quality because i had to do this de-muxing to cut it.
also does anyone use womble? -
ok,
i just kept the start point 0 didnt touch the end point left it at 0 too.
then i made the max file size 520mb since the movie was 1.04g big
now i have 3 files, 2 of them are 519mb
and one file is 29mb.
are the first 2 the movie chopped in half?
or do i have to multiplex twice?
if so i dont know how to do that as, id still need to know what seconds to enter as the start of the next half of the movie. -
Instead of exactly in half, try a little larger.
If the total of the mpv and mpa are 1200mb, set the max size at 630.
It won't be exactly in half, but it ensures you won't end up with 3 files -
thanks again.
so it actually just cuts the movie in half?
i dont have to do it twice like with tmpgenc or other stuff like virtual dub? -
Let's say that you used DVD2AVI, then encoded your .d2v file. Then encoded your wav to mp2.
For SVCD you'll end up with ~1.2gig mpv, and ~100mb mpa, depending on your bitrate and stuff. Together that's about 1350 mb.
Open bbMpeg hit start encoding (with outh adding any files). Click on settings in the bottom right set your max file size. In the case above I would choose 700 just to be safe.
Click on input/output files, choose your output location and file name. Choose your input video and audio.
Next on program stream setting select VCD for VCD, and SVCD for SVCD. Make sure align sequence headers and pad VCD audio are checked for VCD. And add SVCD scan offsets for SVCD.
If you didn't create a compliant video/audio file acording to standards, put Forced Mux rate at 0. This will take care of you PTS/DTS under/over flows. Then hit start.
It will multiplex, and cut at your desired file size, in one step.
In the example above, you'll be left with 2 multiplexed mpg files, 1 ~699, and 1 ~ 675.
You shouldn't divide the MB's exactly in half because of the added scan offsets and bbMpeg multiplexes at the actual bit rate of your file. Most of the time you may end up with 3 files instead of 2.
Also make sure your using bbMPEG v.1.24 b18 not b16, or 17. It muxes SVCD's out of sync.
Use either I-Author or VCDImager 0.7.8, or 0.6.2 for SVCD. The other versions of VCDImager have exhibited SVCD FF/RW problems on some players.
