Well you could make some "educated guesses". Assuming they're backups and not homemade dubs you could take out the original dvd and check out the bitrate on the original and compare it to the backup. Then you could at least see how much it was dropped down. That won't tell you what program you used but you guestimate how much you shrunk it.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
as for the burning...If you open the dvd with iso buster it will show which app was used.

its just when my eldest son lived at home all the dvd's were one collection so they had back-ups, he moved out a few months ago and took his dvd's out of the collection and now i wantt o find if the compression is serious enough to buy the dvd again, ive asked him dozens of times to bring his dvd's home when he visits but he hasmt, i think he sold them but he hasnt said that,
i.e when i get my widescreen tv idf like to think if my dvd-rs arnt that good id compare to the real dvd (each dvd is different) and if there is that much compression id know which one it is, i.e if its the program or compression,(i.e 4% compression could ruin a dvd) -
for arguments sake can i say i live on mere space station imune from all laws governed on earth, all i want to know is how much my dvd's were compressed to se eif thats what wll cause bad quality

As is pointed out regularly here, there is no magic number below which you can say "this is crap". 5% compression on one disc may make it unwatchable, while 30% on another disc might have little visible impact.
No, you can't go live in a space station immune from regulation and law, and neither can this site. This site has already been approached by Macrovision, so we know it is under scrutiny. You don't like, write your congressman, vote for the other guy, whatever you feel is right. But don't take an attitude with the people here who are trying to help.Read my blog here.
