Problem with CCE Encode.

what are you using to view it and can you not burn a test DVD?

I cant burn a test dvd because I ran out of dvdrs. Getting a new batch in a few days though.

I did however use IMGTOOL to make an iso out of the files and mounted that in daemon tools and that didnt fix it

it plays smoothly for me in MPC and powerdvd and windvd

it could be your codecs

you could try running it through DVDShrink with no compression as that sometimes fixes it

another way to fix them is to to do a dummy strip in Ifoedit

I deleted all the files but i'll re-do it overnight and try those suggestions in the morning, if anyone has anymore suggestions then please leave replies and i'll try them tomorrow

Also, I dont think its anything to do with codecs as the first dvd was perfect.. and this one starts off fine but ones it gets 3 minutes into it, it starts messing up

the structure might be messed up a little and that's how running it through another program sometimes fixes it

I meant filters also, not just the video codec. It will just be the way the PowerDVD filters handle the VOB if it might be incorrect in some way . That's why some players will play it as they use different filters and don't display any effects of the issue

Plays fine here with media player classic, but the problem appears with PowerDVD 6.

bitrateviewer doesnt show anything abnormal, maybe powerdvd 6 can't handle all the open gops ...

powerdvd 4 (version i use for testing) , plays fine

thats why I was confused.. i encoded dvd2 with the exact same settings as dvd1 and dvd1 played perfectly.. no idea why dvd2 wont work!

a little off topic, but if I may, let me offer you some advice on this issue: Six passes is overkill. Anything more than three passes really gives you nothing more in regard to quality, and in fact may start to decrease quality over that amount. There are multiple threads that have discussed this over at doom9 forum. "More is Better" does not apply here. Save yourself some time... Try it, and do a blind test - you'll see. In fact, some of my BEST quality CCE work has often been accomplished with one pass vbr (OPV). More accurate sizing is the only thing that gets improved after one or two passes.

Thanks for all the help guys, I've got it sorted now. I ran the output files through dvd shrink with no compression and it fixed it somehow.

archaeo: I'll try a couple of 2/3 pass encodes over the next few days to see if I notice any quality loss/difference. I'm not too fussed about time because it only took me 3 hours 20 minutes to do the 6 pass encode.. I'll try it out though.. Thanks for the advice!
