Funny you should mention that. During the format war, I remember reading a number of videophile-type magazines saying EXACTLY the same thing. But, human nature being what it is, "cheap" usually wins the "availability" battle. At the height of the format war, I went to a local video rental store to find the Beta section being about a quarter the size of the VHS section ... and it only got worse as time went by.Originally Posted by doppletwo

the matrix...one of the few movies i actually found to be worth buying at all until i discovered the great wonders of dvd...now my movie collection went from like 5 VHS tapes to around 600ish (not counting homemade) dvd's

I think I have probably bought a movie on laserdisc more recently than I've bought one on VHS.
