Funny you should mention that. During the format war, I remember reading a number of videophile-type magazines saying EXACTLY the same thing. But, human nature being what it is, "cheap" usually wins the "availability" battle. At the height of the format war, I went to a local video rental store to find the Beta section being about a quarter the size of the VHS section ... and it only got worse as time went by.

I think I have probably bought a movie on laserdisc more recently than I've bought one on VHS.

I've done that too. I got Nate & Hayes on LaserDisc.

Tommy Lee Jones plays a good pirate.

Really?? I'll have to find that movie sounds like it could be a riot.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Good luck finding it. Maybe for VHS on eBay. The movie is actually quite good. It also has Grant Tilly, Michael O'keefe, & Jenny Seagrove starring in it. There aren't many good pirate movies out there and this falls among the few good ones. Much better plot and storyline than Cutthroat Island (though I liked it too). And Tommy Lee Jones character is based on the real life pirate 'Bully' Hayes.

not a new VHS video but an ebay buy. It's not actually a movie either but rather a sports video 'Reid's Revival' (ah the good old days )
