    How do I get the subtitles going on the Toshiba SD-4980 player (also sold in Costco as K850) ?
    I have the .idx and .sub files in the root directory with the same name as the .avi movie and nothing happens. When I press Subtitle on the remote I get the forbidden icon. The manual is rather spartan when it comes to it. I've searched around here and in other places and cam out empty handed.
    I saw in the reviews of the player here that it can do sub's on divx, question is how?

    maybe just text srt subs and not dvd image idx/sub subs. you can convert to text srt with subrip.

    You were absolutely right! Processed it in subrip to .srt and voila! Played them perfectly. Thanks for the idea mate.
