  1. Has anyone some (first hand) experience with the new Sitecom WL-124 mediaplayer? Is't supposed to play anything on your PC using streaming wireless connection.

  3. At this point these media devices are in their early stages. I know MS has a media server, then their is Nero Media Home, and then there is also the Media Center 11 beta. Most of the media reciever if fully UPNP compliant should be able to utilize these software servers. I just purchased the SMC EZStream reciever but since the latest auto firmware update it only works with its own software. The second problem is its software will not play divx 3.

I would do a search on media recievers. I know there are also a few DVD players that stream now as well. Check out the available server software on the market and see if it will work for you. I dislike propriatary stuff.

  5. There is actualy a new media server that allows you to play divx (3/4/5) on the SMC and alot of other formats (ogg, Wav, AAC, MP4 WMV etc.) and even online content. It works with the SMC but there are some restrictions so be sure to read the FAQ. You can download the software from http://www.tversity.com, enjoy!

  6. I bought a Wl-124 before Christmas and have been struggling since to get it working reliably.

The main problem seems to be the propietary server. I can't get any other server to work with the machine; including the one listed above.

The remote control software also has a lot of bugs in it (you can't fast forward more than 1 minute and when you press the fast forard button it returns you to where you stopped fast forwardig last time)

My advice - don't buy this till they sort out the software.

Hardly a LATEST NEWS topic - moving you.
(Not really a DVD player topic either, but...)
