I was copying a load of mp3s over from a mates external hard disk and it kept erroring as it was copying over.
Anyway after copying 80 GB's worth over i noticed a lot of his wavs were corrupted so i deleted them.
I cant go through millions of mp3s so is there any software which tells u what mp3s are in perfect 100% condition with no corruption at all and what ones are corrupted?

Also is there an incompatiblity issue between nero 7 and a BenQ 1620?

    Cheers people.

Corruption during transfer. Corruption during the ripping process or both.

It could be but I'd suspect a transfer issue.

    See Above.

Do you have problems when saving files locally? Is it all files or just some? Does it occur when transferring over a certain interface? Is your disc making loud(I mean loud) audible clicking noises? Can you hear the platters while they are spinning?

Depends on your hard disk manufacturer. Most come with some type of error checking/correction software. You might also want to perform a surface scan using the windows tools.

its passed all full diagnostic tests with the seagate tools.
This mp3 test software you gave me, it found loads of ones that said 4.5% corrupted and hearing the whole song they dont sound corrupted at all.
Will they soon get corrupted or what?

P.S you answered my questions in the best way mate cheers.

anything under 7% corruption is OK. When you get beyond this you will begin hearing audible blips and such. The 4.5% will not increase. This was done during the ripping process. Alot of downloaded MP3s have some level of corruption in them. Only those who carefully took the time while ripping produce error free MP3s. Even then an error can creep up if the disc is scratched or dirty.

I use Cool Edit Pro 1.2 ... to look at the mp3 ... if there are skips ... I will see them. If the skips aren't too bad ... I delete them with CEP 1.2.

If the skip is really bad ... I may try and take the portions that are good and do a fade in ... fade out ... [copy and mix/paste] sometimes the results are not too bad ... it will sound different but listenable.

VBR mp3s can be opened up with Cool Edit Pro 2.1.

I also use Sound Forge 6 ... for VBR Mp3s.
