Tough question that is driving me nuts. Here is the problem that I am running in to. I am so close to solving it but just have run out of answers.
(This is similar to a earlier post I made, but I have made it past a big chunk of the initial prolems. I am on the last hurdle)

    Here goes:

    1) Recoding shows with Tivo - transfering to Tivo
    2) Cropping out shows with ComSkip (that was my first mistake)

    3) Set up DVD to be authored but had a problem with my video being longer than the audio tracks. I went back and Demux'd and also rewrote the GOP timeline (dvdlab) ... (this might be the problem...continue to read)

    4) Import all elements into Sonic DVDit since this is where my template resides.

    5) Everything looks good in the time line - plays CORRECT on the the preview, plays correct from the raw .mpeg

    6) Write ISO image

    7) Burn ISO

    8) Play on DVD player and it hang in the same spot everytime. The video freezes and the audio continues to play.

I have even gone back and re-transcoded the video / wrote ISO in hopes that it was just a bad write to ISO or disc. The results are the same - the video freeses in the exact same locaiton.

My theory is that the GOP timeline is still messed up or the headers are in the incorrect place (Header table). What do you all think? Is there any way to make sure that the GOP is closed and that the chapter points for the video clip are located at the beginning of the clip and the end of the clip? I am almost certain that is has something to do with the video not knowing that it really isn't at the end of the clip. There is 15 mins of video left on the time line AND it plays correct in the preview window so I know that ultimely its not the raw video that is the problem but rather the authoring protion to a DVD format.

Everything on the DVD works great with the exception of the video freezing at one spot (and never thawing).

Any light shed on the matter will be so greatly appreaciated!

I blame DV and DV editing for the way I feel this morning. It was a late night!

    Thanks

    Bman

You can not do anything to the recording with Comskip.
You only can use it to analyse the video.
What did you use to do the cutting?

I had the same thing happen to me when i was splicing together some movies. The video would hang and the audio would keep on keepin on...media player is a little more tolerant of this and would play fine.

What I discovered is I had some corrupt frames (for lack of a better explanation/understanding of the subject). I loaded the mpeg file back up in womble mpeg video wizard and went a couple frames before and after the spot where the video hung and cut them out. I had to do this to 2 different sections in the video. I then did a stream copy to another mpeg file and authored from there. Everything worked fine after that.
