What do you guys think for album of the year?

I'm kind of thinking it may be Greenday's "American Idiot".

    Or was that last year?

    Either way, great album!

    What do you guys think?

  2. That is way too hard to decide. Here are just a few of my contenders for best of '05:

Children Of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?
    Trivium - Ascendancy
    Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine
God Forbid - IV: Constitution Of Treason
    Opeth - Ghost Reveries
    Mudvayne - Lost And Found
    Behemoth - Demigod
    Old Man's Child - Vermin
    Graveworm - (N)Utopia!

System of a Down - Mezmerize

Hypnotize was also good but not as much as the first one. 2 CDs in one year kicks ass.

Blah. More crap from "new" Green Day. Didn't they use to be a punk band?

    I vote for Zebrahead's MFZB

Could not agree more, sheer quality and I'll go out on a limb and say it'll be their best album. Hypnotize was rather bland by comparison.

This is a great album, but my mate saw Billy Joe in an airport somewhere and asked him for a photo and he replied, rather grumpily, "Quickly !". I would have said "******* forget it then" but he took the snap anyway. Miserable ******.

Its grown on me quite a bit, but there is no denying that it has a rushed feeling to it. I understand that they said as much themselves so its all good I guess. Together its a great "lump" of music though.

Its not 2005, (2k4 if I remember right) but Slipknots Vol3:The Subliminal Verses is another example. Good disk, in many ways stronger then any of their previous stuff.

Its nice to find some bands that actually get better after a few CDs instead of start to suck.

I haven't really enjoyed Dream Theater since "Awake". It seems that all of their albums increasingly became exercises in musical chops. Awake, to me, is much more focused than "Images and Words". I assumed that was the direction they were going, but that wasn't the case.

Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory was a huge let down if you ask me. It just seems like the guys are trying to show us how well they can play. Well, we see that. Now show us how well you can write.

Metropolis PT 2 is one of their best. Awesome songwriting.
DT takes patience and time to get into.
What throws alot of people from them, is the fact that they aren't 3 chord crap like Green Day and most other new punk/rock bands.
