Hey, I am new to video editing. I have just recently learned how to convert avi's to dvd format and all that fun stuff.

For school I have been assigned an oral history project documenting the individual eras form the 50s to the 90s. I would like to create a dvd slide show using still pictures, movie clips, audio clips and text to create a multimedia presentation. The problem lies in the fact that I have no clue as to how I should go about compiling all of these forms of multimedia.

Any recommendations of software to use would be greatly appreciated. Freeware is preferable, but not required.

All of this can be compiled in a video editor. Even Windows Movie Maker would be enough to get you started, although I would probably consider something bigger depending on how complicated you want to make it.
